Specs are above. I built this rifle a year ago, and have been slowly fireforming brass for it since Roberts brass is costly and usually hard to find. My first load in this rifle was made from resized PPU 6mm Remington brass. Start charge of H4350, federal primer, capped off with a 117gr RN bullet. First rounds down the pipe were sub 1/2” groups. I’d say I’m shocked, but the other two barrels I’ve bought from X Caliber, have done the same. Always with my handloads and factory Gold Medal Match ammo if it applies to my caliber. I took the .257 Roberts Savage out again today, and I was shooting some pretty stout loads towards the top end of the +p recipes with the same round nose bullet, same H4350 powder. This rifle just doesn’t care. It was 36 degrees out, no wind, 900 ft above sea level. 1” groups are pretty typical for this rifle out at 200 yards. It’s boringly accurate, to say the least. I have a few pics of targets I’ve taken, and not one is over an inch. I’d post them if I could. Keep in mind my brass isn’t even fully formed to the chamber yet, and it’s posting excellent results. My chamber is also on the shorter more traditional .257 Roberts chamber, so not much projectile hanging out of the case. Rifle could care less. Just puts it where it’s pointed. The cost of these barrels is very justified when they do what X Caliber claims they will do, or better. If you’re on the fence, just buy one. Don’t hesitate. Worth the price of admission. If you’re a competent handloader, you will reap the benefits of these barrels.
